The lights went out for several hours yesterday for about 2,000 Florida Power and Light customers in Viera. The power company said it was due to an equipment failure. Businesses, homes, and traffic lights were all dark for a while just after 5 p.m. By 8 last night, power had been restored to all but about 200 customers. Some businesses were forced to close during the outages.
