New Laws Taking Effect July 1st

A long list of new Florida laws goes into effect on July 1st. They include things like prohibitions against classroom discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity below certain grade levels; how loudly music can play in vehicles; a minimum wage increase for state employees and law enforcement; tax suspensions on gas, diapers and school supplies; and a law which prohibits a physician from performing an abortion if the fetus is past 15 weeks. Another new law will require that students starting in grade 9 must earn one-half credit in personal financial literacy and money management to receive their high school diplomas.
