A wildfire that quickly grew to about 15-acres Friday afternoon in Sharpes destroyed four homes, and left five others damaged. About 50 other homes in the immediate area had to be evacuated. While no residents were hurt, one Brevard County Fire Rescue firefighter was taken to a local hospital with heat exhaustion. The fire burned an area from Sharpes to the border with Port St. John, and it as completely contained by about 6 Friday evening.
