Weekend Plane Crash In Virginia Involves Plane From Melbourne

Seems that plane that crashed in the mountains of Virginia yesterday afternoon after it strayed into restricted airspace over the nation’s capital… causing military jets to be scrambled… has connections to Brevard County….

Search and Rescue crews were called out in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia after a Cessna crashed Sunday afternoon around 3:30. According to the FAA, the small plane was headed from Tennessee to Long Island before turning back toward Washington, D.C. The federal agency says it originally took off from Melbourne Orlando International Airport, and it is registered to Encore Motors in Melbourne, a company owned by Barbara Rumpel. Her husband John Rumpel told reporters that his daughter, a grandchild, and a nanny were on board. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
