Sales Tax Holidays

Some sales tax holidays are aimed at saving Floridians some money… all part of a $1.3 billion package of tax breaks signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. As part of Florida’s Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, things like batteries, gas cans, flashlights and even dog food are tax free right now and until Friday, June 9th. If you miss it this time around, you will have another opportunity too… For the first time ever, a second tax free holiday will take place later this year, right before the peak of hurricane season. That one starts on Saturday, August 26th and runs through Friday, September 8. The “Freedom Summer” program began on Monday, allowing Floridians to skip paying sales tax for things like concerts, sporting events, entry to state parks and camping supplies.
