SpaceX Plans Launch Attempt Tonight

After it was scrubbed last evening because of the weather, SpaceX plans to try again today to launch a Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center’s Pad 39A. Liftoff is scheduled for a launch window that opens at 7:24pm and runs until 8:31pm. As was the case yesterday though, the weather forecast is calling for conditions to be just 60% “go” at that time. Because of the weight of the satellites and the trajectory, there will not be enough fuel left in the boosters to attempt a landing on the drone ships or at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. That means tonight’s launch will be the first time that a Falcon Heavy rocket will take off with the deliberate goal of expending all boosters. If the launch does happen as planned this evening, it will be the 20th launch so far this year from here on the Space Coast.
