Manatee Warning

A warning from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission… manatees are on the move right now. They say boaters need to be aware of that. They are now telling boaters to go slow and look below for manatees. Spring is the time of year that the slow-moving mammals naturally disperse from their winter refuges, and then travel to other parts of the state… and beyond. Even though manatees are large, they can be difficult to see in the water. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says wearing polarized glasses can help you see a snout or large circles on the water, which are indicators that manatees are below the surface.
