Train Engineer Facing Charges In Connection With Death Of Former Osceola County Football Player

Train engineer is now facing charges in connection with the death of a former Osceola County high school football star. Tavon Smith has been charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence, and reckless endangerment after the death of Lamar Patterson who was killed nearly a year ago when his vehicle collided with the train near Baltimore as Patterson was reportedly on his way to a private school there. Smith was an MTA rail operator in Maryland, where investigators say he was operating the train in a grossly negligent manner. Patterson played for several teams while living in Central Florida, including Osceola County High School.
