Invasion Of The Illegals Affecting Florida

Florida is suddenly experiencing a surge of illegal migrant activity, and the Coast Guard has been busy trying to keep up with it. Much of it is taking place in The Keys, but some of it is now happening much farther north… including here in our area. A dilapidated wood-framed corrugated metal hull boat was found on December 30th on the park beach about a quarter mile north of the fishing jetty at Sebastian Inlet. What may have happened to the passengers remains a mystery. Just two days before that, a Coast Guard cutter rescued 25 migrants who were all tightly packed into a small boat that was taking on water 32 nautical miles offshore of Cape Canaveral. Homeland Security says in the waters surrounding Florida, a total of 606 migrants were encountered at sea just last weekend.
