Cocoa Police Officer arrested

A Cocoa police officer was arrested early Thursday morning in Viera after he barricaded himself in his home following a domestic violence incident. 39 year old Patrick Kelly, who has been a Cocoa officer for 15 years, was locked up behind bars in the Brevard County Jail and held without bond, after being taken into custody by Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies who were called to his home in Viera around 10:30 Wednesday night, after getting a call from a woman who claimed Kelly threatened her with a firearm. Nobody was hurt. It’s not his first time on the wrong side of the law… Back in 2017, Kelly was arrested and charged with domestic battery by strangulation after an argument with his then-girlfriend at her Merritt Island home. Kelly has been placed on administrative leave from his job as a Cocoa Police officer.
