On Monday, TIME magazine announced that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is on the short list to be named Person of the Year. Actually, the governor is one of ten finalists for the honor. Last year’s winner was Elon Musk, and he too is on this year’s list again. The magazine says DeSantis was chosen as a finalist after rocketing into the national spotlight during the COVID scare… and keeping Florida free from the lock downs that devastated the economy in many other states… while at the same time, taking a scientific and methodic approach to fighting the virus, and saving lives. That propelled DeSantis into the position of being one of the most popular Republicans in the country, and helped him win re-election last month in a blowout… 19 full percentage points over his challenger, former Florida Governor Charlie Crist.
