Melbourne Police Fired Upon

An incident over the weekend that began as a call about domestic violence turned into a potentially deadly situation for Melbourne Police. 32 year old Anthony Rivera faces charges including three counts of attempted first-degree murder after he opened fire at Melbourne Police early Saturday morning at a home on Millicent Circle. One officer returned fire. Palm Bay police and Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies along with the Melbourne Police Department SWAT team and Crisis Negotiations Unit all were called in. Rivera voluntarily surrendered and was taken into custody. In the end, nobody was hurt. Rivera is now being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail.
