A Merritt Island man was killed and another person was sent to an area hospital after a one vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 1. The Florida Highway Patrol says a 19 year old driver was southbound on the highway when he lost control and went into the median, where he then overcorrected and hit curb, which cause the vehicle to overturn as it slammed into a fence and a palm tree. The driver… whose name has not been released… was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle who was also said to be 19 years old, was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. There has been no update on that passenger’s condition. The Highway Patrol says neither one of them were wearing seatbelts.
