School Bomb Threat Turns Out To Be Nothing

A threat on Monday resulted in the complete evacuation of a Brevard County school. Students and staff at Croton Elementary School in Melbourne were evacuated for about an hour Monday afternoon following what is being referred to as a remark from a student referencing a bomb. The whole thing unfolded yesterday just after noon at the school on Croton Road in Melbourne, where police say a staff member heard a passing student say something about a bomb. The Brevard County sheriff’s bomb-sniffing dogs were called in, and the student was questioned but denied making any bomb threats. Police later determined that the student was in fact, not making a claim about having any bomb. When it was deemed safe, all students and staff were then allowed back inside. There have been no arrests. Nobody was hurt.
